This weeks Wednesday walk

By crickhowelladventure, Jun 24 2016 02:20PM

To be honest we were looking forward to walking along the Cat's Back again...The view as you're walking along the spine towards the end drop is simply stunning...

However, the weather was against us and the forecast was for low clouds and rain, so we decided to go back to our old favourite...Gwryne Fawr Reservoir....if the weather was going to be nice, we may even get to Bal-Bach!!

We parked in Pont Cadwgan car park and then walked up the track which follows the old road passing the village which was built for the workers whilst the dam was being built. This leads up to the dam, which we couldn't see for ages!! Not because our eyesight's going, but the cloud was down so low!

We followed the path to just above the bothy and then took a 90 right, straight up to the ridge line, being careful not to tread on the Cotton weed, its so pretty....then we followed the ridge going in and out of the clouds as we did so.

As the cloud came back in, we decided not to go higher, but dropped down into the wood and followed the track back to the car park.

This is a great walk, and one which can be altered to a long walk or shorterm=, whichever takes your fancy! and we only saw another couple whilst we were out and lots of hill ponies and their foals....

It truly is good for the soul when out on the hills.....

Couldn't see a thing to start with...then the clouds slowy lifted
