Well, its been a busy week this one!
Its that time of year where we view and order stock for Autumn/Winter 2016...not an easy task as you can well imagine...who knows what next winter will be like? Is it going to be the same as this year? Do we order tons of down products or wet weather stuff....decisions, decisions...where is the crystal ball when you need one!!
So Wednesday we trotted off to Newport, we saw Outdoor Research, Mountain Hardware, Sherpa Adventure Gear, Icebreaker and loads more...sometimes it just feels like personal shopping...some glorious stuff out there...Outdoor Research have some lovely things, and really useful...how about heated gloves which run off batteries, have a choice of three settings and heat up really quickly? Fantastic...so was the price, but who knows.
Sherpa Adventure Gear have some lovely new items and made some lovely tweeks to existing lines...can't wait to get them in...and their story continues to grow....the ladies who hand knit the gloves, hats and sweaters (check out the Kirtipur sweater...its to die for) have increased from just 3 to nearly 30...that's 30 ladies who have good, well paid jobs...all going back into their local economy...fantastic.
Thursday we were invited to attend Berghaus Autumn/Winter 16 launch...we had to drive to Folly Farm, nr Bristol for this event....great place, and what a great day!
First we were introduced to their new Technical Mountaineering jacket. This has been produced with the help of Leo Houlding, who is one of their sponsored athletes...an truly bombproof piece...its fitted with everything a mountaineer could need, from easier hood adjustment to a pleat in the back to give unrivalled freedom of movement.
We also learnt about their ongoing efforts to reduce their enviromental impact, whether by the way they produce their products, who they work with and how they work, we learnt that 1/3 of their range is already blue signed approved, without having to adjust anything!
The icing on the cake though was to hear Leo talk about his recent expedition to Mirror Wall in Greenland...its sounded fantastic, and truly scary! He is a lovely chap and spoke to eloquently and with such a passion....and we had a photo with him!!
All we need to do now...is put together an order book from all the choice...no easy thing that we can tell you!
